      Akon has plans to light up Africa, and it's not with his hot lyrics.
The R&B star is launching an academy through his "Akon Lighting Africa" initiative, which will use the power of the sun to hopefully provide 600 million African people with electricity.
Opening in Mali's capital of Bamako, the academy will teach people how to install and take care of solar powered systems, which the performer believes will create jobs.
The plan seems reasonable considering Africa has 320 days of sunlight a year.







"We have the sun and innovative technologies to bring electricity to homes and communities. We now need to consolidate African expertise and that is our objective," Samba Bathily, co-founder of the project, said in a statement. "We are doing more than just investing in clean energy.
"We are investing in human capital," she said. "We can achieve great milestones and accelerate the African transformation process on condition that we start training a new generation of highly qualified African engineers, technicians and entrepreneurs now."

WNBA star Brittney Griner has filed for an annulment from fellow basketballer Glory Johnson, after only 28 days of marriage, claiming "fraud and distress." The news comes just a day after the couple announced they were expecting their first child.

Griner said, in a statement, on Friday: "Last Wednesday, Glory and I agreed to either legally separate, get divorced, or annul our marriage. In the week prior to the wedding, I attempted to postpone the wedding several times until I completed counseling, but I still went through with it. I now realize that was a mistake."

Last week, In Touch Weekly obtained a copy of a police report that shows Duggar was investigated for multiple sex offenses against five underage girls, some of whom may have been his younger sisters. The reports, which were hidden since 2006, show that Duggar confessed to his father, Jim Bob Duggar, who then waited over a year to contact police about the incident.

Last Thursday, Josh said in a statement, "Twelve years ago, as a young teenager, I acted inexcusably for which I am extremely sorry and deeply regret. I hurt others, including my family and close friends. I would do anything to go back to those teen years and take different actions. I sought forgiveness from those I had wronged and asked Christ to forgive me and come into my life.      According to The National Enquirer, Mariah Carey's brother Morgan, who hasn't spoken to the star in two years, is speaking out about his famous sister and her alleged substance abuse, and he fears that his sibling could wind up tragically gone too soon like Whitney Houston.

"Mariah was drinking through her pregnancy - even while she was nursing. I can't say that I have ever been around her when she was sober, and that's very scary," he told The National Enquirer.

Not only that, but Morgan alleges that, in addition to alcoholism, the "Heartbreaker" songstress is taking a cocktail of prescription pills like Zyprexa, Ativan and Depakote. His fears are that the mother-of-two could "die like Whitney Houston" if she doesn't get the help she needs. "She does not have a support system and she is not mentally capable," he added.

 "If my sister turns up dead ... I'm not going to look the other way! Anyone who's filling her glass is jeopardising her life!" he warned.

"Totally twisting what I said, if you read what I said I totally support being happy and am glad she is happy. We just need to as a nation and a world get back to business and making everything a better place.            A ten year old girl has been refused an abortion after she found out she was pregnant.
She complained about stomach cramps and was taken to the hospital. It was then that doctors discovered she was already 21 weeks pregnant.
            It was revealed that she had been raped by her stepfather. The young girl was refused an abortion because it is illegal in Paraguay. The man responsible has since fled and is being hunted by police. The mother has been arrested and continues to plead for her daughter's abortion. Human rights groups have also come forward to help with the case which is still ongoing.

Kim Kardashian Gets Cropped Out by Israeli Newspaper

Kim and Kanye were recently in Jerusalem, where they had their daughter North, baptized. While there, they had dinner with the mayor of Jerusalem Nir Barkat. The Mayor posted the photo of the dinner on Twitter.





An Israeli news paper put up the picture but noticeably cropped out Kim. The newspaper is ultra- orthodox  and considers images of women sexual. It criticized the group for dining at a non kosher venue as well as the $692 bill.
